The BMW Charity Pro-Am is going on right now in the Greenville area. The tournament is played in the Brights Creek course in western North Carolina, The Carolina Country Club course in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and the Thornblade Club course in Greer, South Carolina. The event also includes performances at the Peace Center Amphitheatre in downtown Greenville Thursday and Friday night.
The full schedule of events can be found here. The event creates a lot of buzz around the celebrities that play in the tournament. Some of the celebrities this year include hockey player Wayne Gretzky, Andy Buckley from the Office, Jeffrey Donovan from Burn Notice, and Patrick Warburton from Seinfeld.
Last year the BMW Charity Pro-Am generated over $650,000, and in the past ten years the charity has distributed over $7.96 million to more than 150 charities in Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina.
The tournament is the only nationwide tour where celebrities and amateurs are grouped with professionals in a four-day better-ball competition over three courses. The final round is held on Sunday at Thornblade Club.
